Throughout September, three FNPF-owned IHG Fiji Hotels activated initiatives aimed to improve the lives of Fijians and the communities they operate in.

3rd October 2023 (Natadola, Fiji): September was an important month in the calendar for FNPF-owned IHG Fiji Hotels as they launched a number of initiatives for Giving For Good Month. This annual global event embodies the spirit of generosity, empathy, and community engagement, which are core values of IHG Hotels & Resorts.

The three FNPF-owned IHG Fiji Hotels include InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva. Throughout September, these hotels activated a series of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Fijians and contributing positively to the communities that the hotels operate in.

GIVING FOR GOOD INITIATIVE HIGHLIGHTS:

Coffee for a Cause

On Friday 1st September 2023, the three FNPF-owned IHG Fiji Hotels donated all proceeds from coffee sales to support WOWS Kids Fiji, a charitable organisation headquartered in Suva. WOWS Kids Fiji offers vital assistance to children battling cancer during their formative years, exemplifying an unwavering dedication to their well-being. A total sum of FJ$3,000 was donated.

Supporting the CWM Hospital Oncology Unit

On 16th September 2023, a Car Park Café Grab & Go Breakfast event took place at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva. This event was a collaborative effort by the three hotels, dedicated to supporting the Ministry of Health & Medical Services and the CWM Hospital Oncology Unit. The event featured a live performance by KUKI from the band InsideOut, hot grab-and-go breakfast options, and a total of FJ$10,000 worth of necessary items were pledged to the CWM Hospital Oncology Ward to assist with their vital work.

Partnership with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services

In honor of World Heart Day, the hotels sponsored FJ$3200 worth of TV advertising and commercials, and the landmark lighting of the iconic Grand Pacific Hotel. They also provided menu and refreshments for the landmark lighting event.

Touch Rugby Sponsorship

The three IHG Fiji Hotels & Resorts sponsored FJ$6,000 towards the Touch Federation Fiji’s participation in the Pacific Games Touch Rugby Competition. The competition, scheduled from November 27 to December 2 in the Solomon Islands, features teams from seven countries and is a stepping stone towards the Touch Rugby World Cup in 2024.

SPCA Donation

The hotels donated a brand-new washer and a two-door refrigerator worth FJ$3,000 to the SPCA (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), supporting their mission to provide care for stray and unfortunate pets, ensuring they find loving homes through adoption.

Treasure House Christian Children’s Home Donation

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa donated over FJ$10,000 worth of essential items to the Treasure House Christian Children’s Home in Nadi, including bunk beds, a gas cooker, and paint for their facilities, supporting their mission to provide a loving home for children in need.
